For Clinicians

For Clinicians — Kate Tepper, PsyD

I offer consultation for psychotherapists interested in deepening their clinical thinking and developing their work with greater depth and confidence.

Consultation

Deepening clinical thinking through careful attention to what unfolds between patient and therapist.

My approach is grounded in contemporary psychoanalytic thinking and relational psychotherapy. I am interested in the emotional experience of both patient and therapist — including what emerges in the therapeutic relationship and what may be communicated indirectly.

Consultation focuses on:

  • Developing sensitivity to unconscious communication
  • Understanding transference and countertransference
  • Thinking about complex clinical dynamics
  • Exploring moments when treatment feels stuck
  • Integrating theory with lived clinical experience

I work with pre-licensed clinicians, licensed therapists, and clinicians seeking ongoing consultation. A consultation group for psychotherapists is now forming in Silver Lake and online. Potential times are Mondays 2–3pm in person, or Wednesdays 1–2pm or 2–3pm by secure video, with some flexibility while the group forms. The group is intimate, aiming for 3–6 participants, at $65–85 per session based on group size. To inquire, email drkatetepper@gmail.com or call 213.807.6474.

Study Groups

A space for close reading, reflection, and conversation about psychoanalytic ideas and clinical work.

I have conducted psychoanalytic study groups at Silver Lake Psychotherapy and am developing independent study groups for clinicians interested in close reading, reflection, and conversation about psychoanalytic ideas and clinical work.

I welcome clinicians at all stages of practice who are interested in deepening their understanding of psychotherapy.
